The legendary Gran Hotel Inglés was reopened in March 2018 after many years of operation. The maximum number of rooms that had once reached 132 at the time was now reduced to 48 rooms (sets),asking for more sincerity and luck to stay here. As a member of the famous Leading Hotels of the world, Gran Hotel Inglés is not emboldened by the scale, but by its uniqueness of its history and geography and the confidence in each corner of the space.
The hotel invited the famous Rockwell NY designer office, who refurbished with The New York Edition in New York, to renovate the hotel. The first flourishing period in the hotel and the emerging decorative art style in the early 20th century were the keynotes. Both the beauty and the function were reminiscent of the past memory. The use of gentle and restrained colors allows for simple composition of geometrical images, organic interactions, from day to night, both within and outside of the city, blending with the natural light and the surroundings. The shape of the bathtub stands, the zenith of the suite, and even the details of the mirror configuration and other details in the gym are hidden in the classical Spanish elements. It feels like a gentle breeze touches the guitar string in the ear of the viewer. As the office‘s first complete historic hotel project in Spain, the fusion of classical and modern fun has been extremely successful.
The hotel‘s most luxurious topfloor Royal Suite sits in a 125square meter private space in the heart of Madrid‘s old quarter. The suite has 2 separate bedrooms, an oversized living area, a separate dining room and complimentary champagne for guests. In order to maintain the old and elegant style in detail, there is even an antique centuryold cocktail cart in the room, and the butler can always ask for a classic bartending service. In the 1920s, European nobles stopped here for luxury and exquisite life.
The Meller Suite, also on the top floor, is more satisfying for couples‘ imagination of Madrid‘s sun and romance, because in this 50 square metre twin suite, hides one of the most exclusive spaces in Madrid‘s best boutique hotels a private terrace with a jacuzzi, overlooking the hotel‘s quiet central courtyard. The iconic blue skies, orange roofs and snowwhite walls, where you can enjoy a glass of champagne in the sunset, will be an unforgettable experience.
The rooms on the lower floors, superior rooms with separate small balconies, combine the elegance of 19th century Spanish architecture and avantgarde décor, and the individual baths and small balconies in the rooms are romantic and overlook the ancient streets, the legacy of the Golden Age.
The hotel‘s restaurant, The LOBO 8 restaurant, echoes the old street name of the hotel, 10 Calle del Lobo, and the restaurant is decorated with various styles of ”wolf” themed artworks and colorful paintings. The design makes this the most fashionable restaurant in the area. Simply to have breakfast here is a witness to the reputation of Madrid as a gastronomy city and the standards set by the founders centuries ago. In addition, as a luxury hotel in a literary district, the Gran Hotel Inglés even has a library for its residents.
It does not stop at reality, it is not limited by time and space, eternal pursuit of innovation and beauty, and its motivation stems from the love for people. This type of literary art has taken root in the form of a hotel by crossing the categories. Perhaps this is the spiritual core of the Legend of Gran Hotel Inglés.
