The Siam has been featured in ”The World‘s 50 Best Hotels” for two consecutive years, rising from No.42 in 2023 to No.26 in 2024. As one of the few independent boutique hotels on the list, this achievement is truly remarkable. The Siam has also received ”Three MICHELIN Keys”, highlighting its quality and service.
Opened in 2012, The Siam occupies a prime 3acre riverside location on the Chao Phraya River, yet it features only 38 suites. The owner, Krissada Sukosol Clapp of the Sukosol family, is a Thai singer and actor who places great emphasis on the hotel‘s identity and soul, offering thousands of pieces from his private collection of antiques for display throughout the hotel. From the Chinese opium beds and weathered Burmese wood columns in the pool villas, to the vintage French velvet theater seats in the private screening room, and the priceless Tang Dynasty figurines and Neolithic Thai pottery in the library, as well as Siamese maps, old books, posters, and photographs, the hotel is adorned like a unique and charming museum.
Hotel design master Bill Bensley worked closely with Krissada Sukosol Clapp to create The Siam as a palace reflecting the glorious cultural heritage of Bangkok during the reign of King Rama V (circa 18531910), with accents of Art Deco style and stunning landscapes. Bill Bensley‘s design is highly personalized, with the starting point being to blend in rather than stand out, and the unified black and white color scheme makes the displayed antiques look even more outstanding.
