Wellesley

The Origin of the Name, Wellesley
When referring to the origin of the name, Wellesley, the hotel‘s PR staff told us that the Wellington Marble Arch in northern London was built by King George IV in 1825 to celebrate the victory of the British army in the Napoleonic Wars. At the top of the arch, there is a statue of the Duke of Wellington, Mr. Arthur Wellesley, one of Britain‘s greatest army leaders. He has also served as Prime Minister of England in the early 19th century; now it was replaced by a bronze statue of a fourwheeler to commemorate King Edward VII.
The Wellesley Knightsbridge, a Luxury Collection Hotel, is a 1920s building that carries a rich musical legacy. Its predecessor was the Hyde Park subway station. In 1982, it was renovated into a pizzeria, Park Pizza (founded by Peter Boizot, founder of the famous pizza chain, Pizza Express). The pizzeria is famous for serving live band music and jazz music.
The building was lavishly refurnished in 2012 by Mr. Affara who invested more than £36 million (approximately 300 million RMB), and become an Art Deco boutique luxury hotel – The Wellesley Knightsbridge, a Luxury Collection Hotel, London. The hotel resides in London‘s most prestigious location, bringing modern luxury, traditional grandeur and private custom services to its customers.
A Homeawayfromhome Suite Experience
The hotel overlooks Royal Hyde Park. Throughout seven floors, 17 rooms and 19 suites exemplify sophistication and nuanced hospitality. Many allow unforgettable views across 3 square miles of open green space. All accommodations are thoughtfully appointed with ornate furnishings and opulent finishes.

Spanning the hotel‘s entire sixth and seventh floors, the Penthouse Suite comprises four bedrooms, a private staircase, and a terrace with rooftop views of Knightsbridge and neighbouring Belgravia. The superb lounge area overlooks Hyde Park and features a large table for private dinners and its own humidor.
