在日本，一直有埋藏着机密地下隧道通往各重要国家部门的说法。而造访东京站大饭店之后，你就会发现这并不是谣传。在酒店的地下，就有着建造于20世纪30年代的隧道，直达中央邮局和对面的日本皇宫。起初，这里被用作防空洞，而随着自然灾害的频繁发生，拥有隔震结构的东京车站成为了很好的避难所，曾经接纳了无数躲避地震和战争的难民。
